Aramis (AIR-uh-miss) Shepherd is a human male who doesn’t quite look his twenty years, even with his speck of beard. A patch, fashioned from a black dragonscale, covers his left eye. He’s fit, but not strong or large, with blond hair that never seems to be under control. His freckled skin suggests that he was once more tanned than he is now.

He wears a woolen tunic and breeches in muted colors, topped with a gray mantle bearing the sign of the Raven Queen, and crude leather shoes. His longsword, Wintertide, radiates an aura of frost whenever it’s unsheathed. He wears a silver ring on his left hand, and a holy symbol around his neck. When adventuring, he wears rune-struck chain mail and fine leather gloves with golden shamrocks stitched on the backs.

His voice usually sounds weary. He prefers simple, direct language; though respectful of other people’s feelings, he’s not afraid to tell them important things that they may not want to hear. He pays close attention in conversation – closer than most people are used to – but he does so because he doesn’t want to miss anything, not to discomfort others.

Anyone who tries to touch Aramis must get his attention first, or he instinctively shrinks away.

Aramis was born to shepherds outside the village of Oakhurst. He married Celeine, the handmaiden to the wealthy local merchant Madam Hucrele, but left home after his wife’s death. After arriving In Brindinford, he befriended Talgen and Sharwyn Hucrele (the merchant’s children), and became a priest of the Raven Queen under Father Sloane.

Two months ago, Talgen and Sharwyn disappeared near Oakhurst, forcing Aramis to return home. He and his companions rescued the Hucreles from the Sunless Citadel, though Talgen had transformed into something inhuman. The only thing that might cure him, a golden apple taken from the Gulthias Tree, had been stolen by duergar and taken to the ruins of Khundrukar.

Determined to save Talgen, Aramis and his friends found the trail to Khundrukar in the town of Blasingdell. They battled the black dragon Nightscale in the ruins, winning a costly victory. While his companions returned in Oakhurst to care for Talgen, Aramis has come back to Brindinford with Sharwyn Hucrele, with whom he’s begun a new romance.

Don’t try to bleed me
‘Cause I’ve been here before
And I deserve a little more

She’s been dying and I’ve been drinking
And I am the rain king"
